Fraud Prevention Resources

A family code word is a simple yet powerful safety tool that helps verify trusted communication in emergencies or unfamiliar situations. It empowers children and adults alike to recognize when something isn’t right and respond quickly and safely.

Banks will never ask for your PIN, password, or one-time security code by phone, text, or email. If you receive such a request, it’s a scam—hang up or delete the message immediately.

Practice Safe Checks campaign raises awareness about the rise in check fraud and promotes smart, protective habits. These include using permanent ink, filling in all spaces, limiting personal information, reviewing cleared checks, opting for digital payments, and confirming receipt with the payee.
