YBOK -- as we are commonly known -- is a group of progressive bank
officers from around the state of Kansas determined to keep our careers
and professional development on track. In other words, to keep
ourselves "up and coming." If you are a bank officer under the age of 40 (that's why we are called the Young Bank Officers of Kansas) please consider the benefits of joining our organization. Listed below are a few of the reasons we believe you will appreciate being a member. We also encourage you to call one or more of our officers and directors and ask them about YBOK. Just click on the "Board of Directors" link. Annual Spring Conference Designed to help you personally and professionally, this day-long get-together always features interesting, informative speakers packaged in a high-quality program. Topics range from techniques for increasing bank productivity and profitability to real estate appraisal education and negotiating skills in dealing with problem loans. Fall Conference/Annual Meeting Held each fall, in addition to taking care of the association's business agenda, we again have beneficial, meaningful programs. We invite experts to come and share with us in areas such as leadership, community development, cash flow, and stress management. Scholarship Program This is offered to registered members for the purpose of underwriting some of the cost of tuition, room and board for any school or seminar whose primary purpose is education or training. Also included are college credit courses in a banking career related field taken at an accredited college. Each year we award several $500 scholarships to YBOK members. This alone could make your membership in YBOK a great investment. The Scholarship must be used within twelve months of the drawing. It is presented to the YBOK member, but payable to the member bank. They are not transferable to anyone else and they follow the member if they move to another Kansas bank. Any scholarships not used by the deadline are forfeited. If the recipient fails to maintain their YBOK membership by the schooling date, the scholarship is forfeited. Personal Economics Program This YBOK project helps promote economic education in Kansas classrooms. For example, in the 2001 school year, our members - representing 82 banks - made 911 presentations reaching 24,028 students and 2,797 adults. Through it all we attempt to have a little fun! Of course, to keep our organization vibrant and productive, we need the involvement of sharp, growth-oriented bankers from all around the state - from big and small banks.
